PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)

Posted by Pixelhead

I was again surfing the web (I do that a lot) and I came across a blog Hobbits From The Shire, where the author tells about how she is dealing with PCOS, a condition for which she was diagnosed. PCOS, a syndrom that is frequently misdiagnosed, and has many terrible symptoms to include infertility, irregular periods, weight gain, skin problems, deression and anxiety, and excessive hair growth(Hirsutism). According to Insulite Labs, “Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), also known as Polycystic Ovarian Disease,(PCOD) is often caused by a hormonal imbalance brought on by Insulin Resistance-related obesity. It’s a disorder that affects an estimated 5 to 10 percent of all women, and is one of the leading causes of infertility.” Insulite Laboratories is a company that is dedicated to reversing Insulin Resistance.

The author of the above mentioned blog continues her writing about the topic of her weight loss and dealing with PCOS in another blog, Healing Lifestyle. We will have to keep an eye on her blog to see how she is doing. Apparently, there is no miracle drug to reverse PCOS, but Insulite Labs has developed a system to help defeat it. For more information about PCOS, stop by Insulite Labs website located at http://www.pcos.insulitelabs.com/. Also stop by The Healing Lifestyle blog and give her some positive feedback to encourage her in her fight against PCOS.

Hi everyone, I notice that Dr. Nancy Dunne has developed a natural diet plan specifically for PCOS. She says that the type and amount of carbohydrate you consume is crucial for dealing with polycystic ovary syndrome in a natural way. It includes a 30-day meal plan. You can take a look at her book here: Dr. Dunne’s PCOS diet book.

Dr. Nancy Dunne has reported that chasteberry (vitex) can improve fertility. She quotes a study of 3,162 women. 77.4% had menstrual cycle disturbances. After 5 months of taking chasteberry, 33% of the women rated the treatment as completely effective and another 55% experienced. Their doctors reported very good results in 68% of cases. For more info, see her web page: Vitex.

Hi everyone, I notice there was a medical study of 18 women with abnormally low progesterone levels who were given vitex(chasteberry) daily. After 3 months of treatment, 13 showed increases in progesterone and 2 became pregnant. I got this information from:

I was reading Dr. Nancy Dunne’s natural diet book for PCOS when I discovered her 14 tips for increasing your fertility. Here they are: stop junk food, eat whole foods, go organic, avoid genetically modified foods, balance your essential fats, minimize gluten grains, have plenty of fiber, reduce saturated fat, change your carbs, reduce alcohol, reduce stress, exercise, lose weight, reduce insulin resistance, check partner’s fertility, and consider nutritional supplements.

Hi everyone, I came across some information about cinnamon that is relevant to PCOS and insulin resistance. A pilot study at Columbia University showed that consumption of cinnamon reduced insulin resistance in fifteen PCOS women. It sounds like taking cinnamon extract may be a good idea, according to
Dr. Nancy Dunne.

Polycystic Ovarian Disease can be tough to handle and go through. I commend the author of the blog for writing about the subject. More awareness is needed to help find a cure for this disease.

A hormonal balance can be cured from what I know, but it takes a good doctor and supervision because hormon treatments aren’t complicated, but they need a lot of attention from the doctor so do not worry because it can be cured.

Most individual symptoms can be treated by medication. For details of drug treatment for any of the above PCOS symptoms, please see your doctor. In this article we shall focus on treatments involving diet and lifestyle, especially GI diet treatment.he general consensus is that there is no cure as such for PCOS, because some women are born with a genetic predisposition or susceptibility for the condition. However, keeping the symptoms under control is within every woman’s grasp, especially if they have insulin resistance or insensitivity which responds to diet and exercise based treatment.

was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome at the age of 27. I’ve just turned 33 and still continue to have acne breakouts even though I take the pill, Yasmin on a regular basis. I never had acne until I was 27 and soon found out I had poly cystic ovarian syndrome. How long can this condition last, am I doomed to have acne and poly cystic ovarian syndrome until my cycle ends sometime in my 50′s?
