Yes, with enough contacts, the worst content can get to the front of Digg. But in the long run, quality will do more for you, as anyone who comes to a crappy page will not stay for long.

Quality and contacts are definitely the #1 and #2 most important aspects of the digg. I’m not sure which is 1 and which is 2. I’d say probably contacts is #1.

It certainly doesn’t take many Diggs does it. If you get one person to Digg it and their contacts do as well, pretty soon it’s a huge amount of traffic. I think helps to have a quality post that your Digging as well.

I used the shout feature for the first time a few days ago and the post wound up hitting the front page. I don’t have a ton of friends, so I’m not sure how much the shouts helped, but it did get me a few diggs within just minutes of submitting. I’m sure I’ll use it again, but not very frequently.

I hear you Andrew. I have started only checking my shouts 2x a day, that is unless someone that is one of my better contacts sends me a shout that looks interesting…Digg should have different levels of contacts don’t you think.
