LinkLove Pluggin

Posted by Pixelhead

Just a quick post, since I am on vacation in New Orleans and not planning on spending the entire vacation online.

Sonnie’s Porch wrote a post about the LinkLove pluggin and talked about the difference between the Linklove pluggin and the DoFollow Pluggin and has convinced me to use the Linklove pluggin on this blog. First, the Linklove pluggin will encourage more quality comments. First time commentators, will have a No Follow attribute attached to their comments, and will have to make a minimum number of quality comments to have the No Follow attribute removed from their comments. Second, Sonnie put it forth that Google may be penalizing Blogs that use the DoFollow pluggin because they are giving away too many links. Sounds possible.

My Concern about the LinkLove Pluggin.

When installed will commentators that have met the minimum requirements already, benefit from it or will it only take into account comments that are made after it is installed?

Anyone have any opinions about the LinkLove Pluggin?

Oh sorry about the Captcha, please make sure to fill it out, before hitting the submit button. I will be moving it after vacation.

It seems like a good idea to run the LinkLove plugin instead. As you said it will encourage people to make more quality comments and should scare off anyone looking to just spam your blog. On another note, I can guarantee you that Google will start to use some sort of penalty for overly spammed blogs that do not clean up the spammed links. A link from a relevant, on topic comment should not be penalized. It should be no different than a forum signature. Perhaps weighted less in the total link love equation, but still have value. Just my opinion.

I’m using the DoFollow Plugin and since I’m moderating the comments, no spam will get through… nor poor comments for that matter.
If a visitor has left you a good comment, it would be nice to give him a link back even if it’s only one comment!

I don’t think that Google is taking in consideration the total number of outgoing links to decide a penalty - it’s rather the number of outgoing links on a certain page that counts, so keep it small and you would be safe…

Yes, moderation is very essential, but a very time consuming task, especially when a post gets tons of comments.

I’m not switching to the Link love pluggin just yet, but I will be looking out for information that indicates that Google is penalizing for using the Do Follow pluggin.

Hi Pixelhead,

I just stopped by to verity your “do follow” for the list I’m building. Thank you. Might I also recommend the CommentLuv as well as the KeywordLuv plugins? The comment headers look less spammy with the latter.
