Social Media SEO for Hire

Yesterday, I received news that my last day working for the local search marketing company I had been working for was Emperor having Coffee yesterday. Benefits(health insurance) would end at the end of the month which happens to be Friday. This does not come as a shock, since Lizzie and I both had worked for the same company for several years, and downsizing has been occurring over the past year.

So if you need any SEO/Social media work to include consulting, link building, or general site evaluations, please keep me in mind.
My Plan of Action

Get the word out to various contacts which could offer assistance.
Update resume and post on various sites.
Visit various job sites to include careerbuilder.com, montster.com, and Oaseo.com an SEO job community.
Visit various job boards such as the Problogger job board.
Keep working on existing freelance clients.
Contact previous clients.
Back-sell other services to current clients.
Keep on networking.
Cut back extraneous expenses.
Prioritize my efforts.

What would you do in my situation? How would you generate leads? Any advice would be appreciated.

Update: A project that was in the pipeline came through today. We are actually ahead of the game.

FactoringÂ in lost income, tax advantages of paying our own health insurance, income from the new contract, expenses of the new contract, increase availability of time due to having less clients; we are way ahead of where we were yesterday.

I find my personal contacts are the best ways to get projects. Being active on forums is another good way. Glad to hear you got work, though.

Sorry to hear about the downsizing.

Have a quick! look at Celebrate Express’s site. They’re growing at an almost exponential rate, mostly because of advertising. Most the very expensive type. So their marketing department wants to expand their SEO/SEM. They have a long way to go ( no 404 page, all redirects are 302s ), but if yu’re interested, I’ll put you in touch with their marketing dept.

11. When you are in regular employment, save up enough money, in a high interest account, as will last you a year and a day off work.

Itâ€™s good a project came in for you but otherwise, your plan of action was not bad at all. Having to take care of expenses when you were not working would have been hell. Wish you the best in your new endeavors.

Scott, I am not really looking for a job, but always looking for new clients. Leads for new clients keep coming in everyday…usually from past clients who sing our praise.

I agree with this points. Probably I can add that Social Media marketing works really well when you become social. Same as SEO, your SEO works when you are active. You must know who are your best friends because they will drive the promotion, on other hand, make as many as possible new friends.
