PR4 Back in First Page Rank Update for 2008

Posted by Pixelhead

So it seems the first PR Update for 2008 is underway. The PR for Pixelheadonline is back from a PR 3 to 4 again. It had been brought down to 3 in the last update, which could not have been even 3 months ago.
I was informed there was an update by SEOSOS. So I went and checked and so it seems there indeed has been an update.
How is everyone making out in this update?

So far, I have two sites that have been increased by 1. Others are still on the same level as before.

I guess we’re gonna have to wait more, as usual, to see the full impact of PR changes on our sites.

I still holding at PR3 on my student loan site and PR4 on my brangelina.net site. I’ve been set in those spots for quite a long time now.

I am not very much of a PR guy but mine both my sites maintain their last PR. Maybe they have not come around my sites yet :)
I expect a slight drop though.

In the last one, I was PR4 downgraded to PR3. Now my site remained the same at PR3. Some of my inner pages has increase to PR3 also though! Which was not the case when my homepage was PR4, the highest my inner pages were PR2. I think it just means more distribution of PR in my site.

Seems like it was a good update for most people. Got to love having PR of inner pages.

This may be a new strategy of Google to return what he took last year.
People still sell or links even if they got scared.
In the end people realized that PR is nothing.

And yes, Pixelhead on this Update Google give PR to inner pages. Not knowing yet why.

I went through the same thing with one of my sites. Very frustrating but it’s good to be back.

I had heard the PR was going away out of the Google algos… have you heard anything - Does the PR mean anything anymore? Or is it just for decoration?

PR will help you rank better for your keywords. Also, it will benefit to anyone you link to with they anchor keywords. So yes, it’s important.

Won some, lost lots.

Stupid thing is that most of the site which lost, increased their link count, whilst a couple of individual pages got PR with no backlinks at all!

Stupid Google!

For the most part I see no change, although two of my internal pages that have been very popular with Google’s PR are showing n/a … inexplicably.

It looks like the PR for both my website homepage and blog front page fell to 2 from 4 and 5. I’m not sure why since I have never sold links or done anything to violate Google’s “rules”. I don’t really care much about PR, but I do get some motivation by my ranking in lists like 45n5’s top blogs, and I had managed to get into the top 10 there. I’m sure this will knock me back pretty far.

I’ve had quite a lot of my sites get slapped down to 1 or 0 on the PR scale, but I also had about the same amount get a slight boost. Oh well, I guess theres always the next update =P.

Mine is a real estate site that I was using a blogspot domain on until a few months ago. I changed my domain name to a custom one, and I got my page rank totally wiped out. I’m happy to report that they have put me back up to three, but I hope to get higher than that. :)

Pixel,

Do you know why you dropped from PR4 to PR3 in the first place?

NHP, I can only guess that its because of a number of factors including paid reviews, paid text links, and the linking relationships to other sites.

I am not really too concerned about it, because there were a ton of other higher ranking sites that were negatively affected by the previous update as well.

My site dropped from a consistent PR3 for 3 years to PR1- I’m about to switch to a blog format and I hope that will give me a boost in the long run.

Tracy, I had the same thing happen to more than a few of my sites. I think all businesses should have a blog for a ton of reasons. It may take a bit of extra work, but in the end it will be worth it. Please consider submitting your site to Onlinelegaldirectory.com, our legal directory.
