Top Commentators for January 2008

Here are the top commentators for the month of January 2008. I had a bit of trouble compiling the list, as I went to the cached version which was cached by Google on Jan 29th, and it was a bit different when I went in and did a manual check of the comments. So I added Dave on for the benefit of the doubt, after all, whats a little extra link love .

I need a widget that takes the top ten commentators at different intervals and starts or makes a Top Commentators post for me that I can then edit. Do you know anyone who can make such a wordpress widget? Maybe there is already one out there.

Top Three Commentators

Stock Trading Software always has some really helpful information about investing. He might be the guy I need to tell me what a hedge fund is and is not.
Forrest has some pics in the post Paradise in Winter that are having me yearning the snow that we are lacking this year. If you have the chance stop by and see if you can help him out with the Michael the Cat Rescue fund for a vet bill for a stray cat that adopted Forrest.

Mark from Bloglyne has a cool review of Windows Live Writer. I was unsure of the stats this month so I included a fourth top three.

I have visited all of these guys sites at one time or another, but as we just picked up a huge amount of work from one of Lizzie’s big contacts, I have to get to work before she kills me.

I can see how time intervals might be a little harder to find in a widget. I do a bit of software development, but none of it in php, unfortunately.

Link love to the top commentators is a very good way to bring back repeat visitors and to make them “loyal commentators”. I hope I can get some link love too

I am not sure about wordpress widget, that will show you top commentators. It shouldn’t be hard to develop such module.

Are you after a widget to consolidate the regular Top Commontators into a sort of Super Top Commentators with permanent links as a reward, not sure what you were meaning as you have the regular TT plug in.

PS Just found your site for the first time and am being a bit of a hog, too much good stuff here!

I wanted a widget that I could set to make a little post or send me out an email at the middle and end of the month to let me know who the top commentators were. Several times I had to go back into the cached pages to find out who the top commentators were, and this could have been an error.

The Top Collective has a setting for refreshing the list, when it runs the job to zero the totals presumably you could drop an extra line of code in to write the top commentators to a variable or flag them in your MQSql? Not a coder myself but I think that should be just an extra line of code or two.
