I have not noticed any change. I’ll have to check the PR of all my sites tomorrow.

Sounds interesting except for the one bit about “Selling Pixelheadonline lock, stock, and barrel.” Why would you want to do it?

Phil, I highly recommend planning. The more organized you are the better. Take it from one who is perpetually disorganized.

Nicole, I actually started this site back in 2006 as a directory, and then a blog. Selling it was always part of the plan. I actually want to start another blog that will be more focused. One of the thoughts about selling was actually selling shares, to bring in other owner/bloggers because mutli-author blogs do so much better. Also I am a big fan of the Master Mind philosophy.

An evening of planning it is then. Thanks for stopping by and commenting too. If you make enough from the site sale any chance of a camera, lol.

Phil, it very well maybe, but I can’t talk about a new camera with my wife because that is a point of contention with her. I need to hold onto my Canon S5 for at least a year before I can upgrade to a real camera like the Canon EOS 400D.

I hope you don’t mind the off-topic comment but I see your site survived the “dreaded Google PageRank update” (insert ominous voice) unscathed.

Congratulations ;-)

Charles

What would your new blog focus on? I am just trying to think through this for a very valid, personal reason and I hope that you would not mind my prying like this.

My blog grabbed a PR2! Which I am extremely happy about. I know I know, page rank actually means nothing unless you are trying to sell links, but it’s simply a sign of progress which I find really rewarding.

Submitting to directories is time consuming but is it beneficial? You get almost 0 traffic and although the homepage of the directory may have a page rank the normal case is that the inpages don’t have any whatsoever. What’s your opinion on this Pixelhead?

Davin, make sure you check out my previous link building posts for more info on directory submissions and link building.

Greentac, congratulations on your first month, keep up the great work. You can never have enough environmental blogs. If you have any posts or stories to submit for my mid month environment post, please let me know.

Nicole, I have always felt like Pixelheadonline as I have been blogging on it is way too unfocused. I kind of had a feeling that it should or could be more if a person who focused on graphic design or photography would be able to do more with it.
I was thinking about making an active blog on Baldydog.com that focuses on marketing/seo/blogging and the like.
I also might do a more personal blog on a totally different domain. But while I have to focus on Pixelheadonline, these others have to wait.
I would actually like to not sell it, but take on a partner or something.
More creative juice is needed to make it grow.

John, I remember the first time my PR went to 4 on one of my blogs, that was a bit of rush. It was a bit disappointing two updates ago when it dropped to 3. Now I am not so sure…I still have yet to check the PR on any of my other sites. But keep working on it, I am sure you will get it up there. Good commenting, guest blogging, forums and yes directories are all part of it.
Obiwan, or an SEO mentor of mine once said that sure the little directories with zero pr really don’t matter, but if you submit to 20 directories, maybe 10 will accept your link, of that 10 maybe 1 or two will be cached. But all those links do add up. Just a little bit of Google juice plus a little more Google juice could eventually add up to a lot.
And yes, you will submit to a ton of directories that won’t accept your link(can increase this by doing quality submissions) and a ton more that will but won’t be cached, or might be cached a year, or even two years from now.
You can also try building links to your links…

Thanks for the explanation. At the moment I find commenting on blogs the most rewarding. Although time consuming, I am actually learning whilst helping get my site out there. I’m commenting more because I find reading these posts interesting and thought provoking more than to get PR though.
