Comments for Everyone, Links for Blogs!

Posted by Pixelhead

I have been getting a ton of comments of late, and have a Commenting policy of only giving links to sites that have blogs. If the comment is really good, and the site does not have a blog, occasionally, I have been known to remove the link and place it at then end of the comment. If you don’t have a link to your comment signature, when I visit your site, and I will, in order to get a link from Pixelheadonline, you need to have a blog associated with your site, and linked to from the front page. So I generally look for the word “blog” or “weblog” on the front page.

Using blogs for SEO purposes is something that I am not entirely against, but I don’t want to encourage sites without blogs to come and add a little sentence and expect to receive a link to their site with a keyword rich link. If a site owner that does not have a blog, is visiting this blog or another blog, then she or he probably understands the importance of link building, but does not understand what a blog can do for their site. I believe that every site out there should have a blog.

Do you Have a Blog?

If so, congratulations. If not, what are you waiting for?

If you have a site with out a blog, this is your one last chance to get a relatively free link from Pixelheadonline. Leave a comment, and I will visit your site, and write a post for the first three sites that post a comment that don’t have a blog. In this post, I will give a few reasons why each of these sites should be using a blog.

Got a blog and want to participate in this little project, leave a comment that lets us know you want to help encourage non-blog sites to start blogs. Better yet, write your own post that talks about this project which I hope will encourage a few more businesses or non-profits to start new blogs. You can either use a trackback, or leave a comment with the link to your post.

That is a good policy to have in effect. It is really hard for bloggers to moderate comments and decide what is acceptable and what people are just trying to build their backlinks! I am relatively new at blogging and reading blogs but I always try to make my comments valuable contributions to the articles – especially when it is my first comment on a blog I just happened to stumble across like this one is! I have been lucky since askimet catches most of my spammers and most of my readers are thoughtful ones!

Don’t get me wrong, I comment on some blogs to gain backlinks. I won’t lie to you but I always make sure that I leave a sensible comment. If I don’t have anything to say then I won’t comment. It’s what I do, I just hope the blog owners don’t mind :)

We have had a blog for some time, but no commenting policy either. It’s not always to keep corporate blogs updated.

That’s a pretty good policy. With all the spam comments I’ve been getting, I need to do some comment policy revamping.

So far I don’t have any comment policy yet as only a handful of people comment on my blog. Will look into it if my blog is as popular as your. :)

I do agree that the policy is good but really we shouldn’t shun out those who doesn’t have a blog.

We add a blog to our site a few months back. We did it for several reasons, first we can give mentions of those who have helped or been supportive. We also did for a way to interact with our visitors.

Hi Pixelhead. You say that all sites should have a blog, I am going to disagree. We deal with a few hundred websites, most of which are B2B and maybe 5 of them have blogs. Our clients are small and medium businesses who have limited resources. A blog done correctly takes time (money) and planning. They don’t have time to maintain a blog, they have businesses to run and money to make.

Most blogs on the web don’t succeed before a blog is a business, you got to consistently work at making it successful.

Our company does not have a blog, as we are SME, and currently we dont have the resources to man a blog and our clients work always come before us.

With this taken into consideration we should not be penalised for posting on blogs.

I spend 2 hours every night posting, I can learn about what I do and what is happening in my industry, make new friends and during the process improve my link love and get on the good side of my boss by going the extra mile.

Spammers with a line should be removed, but serious bloggers should not.

I have several blogs and I delete the spam. But, good comments that are relevant to the topic of the post are approved. However, if the url that the poster enters is a site with a topic I don’t approve of than it also gets deleted. This so far has rarely been a problem.

I just started a new site today which is linked to via the name I chose for t his comment. If people visit this blog they will not see much content as it is so new. However, I do welcome comments from people who may want to express their concerns, needs, etc.. in regards to the site’s topic. So, I see comments as a great content builder if they meet my basic guidelines.

Perhaps someone would leave a comment regarding if this blog and theme I chose is good for the topic the site promotes or would I be better off choosing a more commercial non blog template.

I am on a quest to make several sites across various topics using blogs only. IE the whole entire site is a blog and made to look like a regular site.

Make a long story short – I am glad that pixelheadonline discussed blog comment guidelines as this is a very important topic.

Sapm comments wouldn’t be so depressing if the culprits actually put some effort into their content? Seriously, with a little imagination surely they would get some return for their effort instead of 100% deletion or am I missing something?

Well, this post already brought many backlinks to you. Aside that, you will also get more content, from comments. This idea is not so bad as many would believe…

I really love blogs with the U Comment I Follow policy in tact. The internet has become quite a mess of blogging in opinion, so it’s good to see people taking up the initiative to improve things around the net. Keep up the great work!

It is still hard to understand the policy of not wanting to accepting to have links if the site is not having a blog. Not agreeing spam comments is reasonable.

I just added dofollow, and my comment policy is more of a quality-comment basis. If a person gives a good piece of advice, I’ll take it. Also, I don’t really enjoy when people use keywords as their names to cheat the dofollow system.

This is a good policy for comments. Right now I don’t have a policy and I do get some spam that I just delete. I reply to each and every comment that gets posted on my blog. I really enjoy the interaction and then, of course, there is the added benefit of links.

I think such a policy makes a lot of sense but from my experience many people don’t really read it anyway. I have some sites in the style / fashion niche and some people really behave like children when they comment. I might give such a policy a try though. Good idea!

Thanks for your generosity. I love blogs and agree that most sites should have one because it adds a lot to a site. Ive noticed a lot of old time webmasters recently adding blogs to their sites.

Lucky me, I do have a blog! I think every website should have a blog. As you said, they are great for SEO purposes and good for retaining visitors. I do enjoy getting a nice keyword-rich link by commenting on this site, thanks for having a dofollow policy!

I am always telling my friends with websites to add blogs, but some people think they are worthless. Ha ha, so nieve.

I greatly admire dofollow blogs. They certainly show the willingness of the blog owners to lend a helping hand to those who might need it.

As a newbie, my early understanding of nofollow tags was that they were put into place primarily as a deterrence against comment spamming. However, I have observed that nofollow tags did not really prevent it at all. Instead, they just discouraged legit readers from leaving comments which would have been useful for the blog and its other readers as well.

Comment spamming is unethical. It may be easy to spot a comment spam by the looks of its contents. However, there must be some other ways to nuke the root causes of it.

These days, it’s getting harder to distinguish blogs from regular websites. Half of the blogs out there are trying to make their homepage look more professional like a regular website.

I too have a comment policy. The only problem is, the majority of my visitors are very nice knitters who don’t have a blog, let alone know what U Comment I Follow means. I find some of these very nice ladies have been hesitant to post for fear of not following my policy, when it doesn’t even apply to them.

I’ve been modifying my comment policy in the hopes of not scaring regular, non-blogging visitors, while at the same time being clear to spammers that their desire for link backs to their prescription drug sites are not welcomed.

A work in progress…

I have been on pixelhead in another name but I recently bagged my alter ego harpoonlouis and stuck a blog on it! This is my personal space to just record stuff I like and share it if folks want to share it. No SEO, no tactics, no tic tacs, just stuff.

I also immediately dropped the NoFollow dictat from Goollies!

To comment or not to comment?

Well that’s an easy one. Comment all you like.

Mind, I am off for my dinner first so you could just beat me to it and find a No Comments but it won’t be ther for long!

Hi Admin, first of all, thanks for making your blog dofollow. Eventhough we add commenting policy, readers dont take time to read and leave comments relevant to post. Am I right?
