Personally, I doubt such a technique will be sufficient to put a website higher up in SERPs but it’s probably a good way to get a website first noticed by search engines and to gain some exposure.

commenting on the blog could be an powerful in gaining readers on your blog. But it must be done correctly, and for a new bloger like me, it is one of the quickest ways of attracting visitors.
For me commenting on other people’s blogs was always a way to network with other bloggers and form long term blogging relationships

Most of the blog owner are not aware that their blog is no follow. They should change the attribute to ‘do follow’. Making a good comment related to the article on a do follow blog is very helpful in getting you a backlink.
