I can tell from own experience. I also write keyword rich articles to submit to the top article directories and this works great. I have some articles in the weight loss niche which show up on Googles first page (mostly from articles submitted to ezinearticles.com or articlebase.com). With one of these articles I was lucky because this article got published on a lot of other sites and I received over 150 pingbacks to my blog which resulted in a nice boost in search engine rankings.
