Electric Car News

Have you heard about Neil Young’s Electric Car? I just read the blog post on The Huffington Post blog about the making of Neil’s electric car.  How cool would that have been to here Neil creating some new songs or playing something from his Harvest album while you were working on his car. Neil also has some advice about saving the the automobile industry. Check out these posts as well as any of  Neil’s other Huffington Post articles.

While we are on the subject of the auto industry bailout, check out the post Auto Bailout-Green Economy Opportunity.

How about this video about a skateboard car…coolness…hydrogen cell no gas needed.

From TreeHugger.com

A $19,000 electric car similar to the smart car is to be released in the US in 2009. This electric car is only to be a low speed vehicle(LSV) so nothing for those of you with a lead foot. Links in this article then lead me to several other electric car articles:

  1. China release the First Plug-In Electric Car
  2. 17 Electric cars, an overview of electric cars from 2005-2008.
  3. And somehow I ended up on an old Wired Blog post about BMW’S Electric Minis…electric minis sound fun.

From Plurk

UPS is makes some deliveries on bikes…for every 3 cycles brown will save 38,000 in repair and fuel costs.

From Mixx

I discovered the Mixx profile for Zoomi and found his blog  ZoomLife.com, which is a blog that is dedicated to Electric Cars. If you are at all interested in electric cars, as I am as you can tell from the resources in this post, then stop in and check out any of his electric car articles such a post about a new Electric Super Bike.

Also I found out that Israel is going to Pioneer the first Electric car Network. This involves the company that I discussed in the post about a Wired Electric Car Article involving Shai Agassi and the Better Place organization.

Miscellaneous Environment

For the those business owners out there, check out 50 Ways to Make Your Startup EcoFriendly.

From Kimberly, I got this Digg about Self-Powered Electronics Devices. Now how cool would it be to not have to worry about charging your cell phone.

Here is another interesting Treehugger post about a Spanish Cemetery That Goes Solar…hmm…not sure what to think about using this holy ground to generate electricity.

My bro stumbled upon this Earth Friendly Shelter, which he thought would make a good art studio for my wife. Looks like a major project to me, however, it would make good use of our hill of a yard.

So that is the Environmental Resources Post for November. Got any other environment links for me?

Nice info there. You’ve got to imagine that they’re not too far away from making the electric car a more viable and commercial solution. It has been worked on by leading scientists for a couple of decades now.

I think biofuel is a more likely short term solution despite the cost.

Thanks for the wonderful links! BTW, every business with a web site should have a statement on there about green policies (as I added a month ago). One of the things I started in my business was a recycling tradeoff policy. Different suburbs have different recycling policies, and I can recycle everything but 6 plastics conveniently, so I started accepting recycling from my clients and trading off the 6 plastics to someone who could recycle them in exchange for their 5 plastics they couldn’t recycle. So now my clients drop off (sorted) what they can’t recycle in their own communities, and take the stuff they can.

If you have noticed the electricity pricing of PG&E ($.41 per kwh incremental), you would very much agree that they are trying very hard to discourage electric cars!

Woooah! Awesome video~! I’ve also read somewhere about the emergence of electric cars. It is eco-friendly, though it might take some time until everyone adapts it. I, for one, can’t really think of going for electric cars when i can’t afford to buy the car of my choice. :(

These electric vehicles are really good for the environment. well, I guess this technology have not brushed on Ford and Shell yet, but Toyota is making a step to solving problems in global warming. First with their Prius hybrid car, and they’re now developing a solar powered car.

An art car is a vehicle that has its appearance modified as an act of personal artistic expression. Art car artists usually drive and own their own work. They are sometimes referred to as “Cartists”. (car pictures) Art car artists or owners often dress in a matching motif when displaying their cars. Art cars and car artists come from all walks of life, uphold a wide range of personal philosophies and beliefs and come from all political groups.

What car is good for converting to an electric car?
I’m interested in a car that is lightweight, has a manual transmission, and has room for batteries. I’m trying to convert a gas car to an electric car, and I need one that is light, has manual transmission, room for batteries, etc, etc. Has anyone done that and has advice/know a good car for it? I have a limited price range, and I need a relatively cheap car for it. Any suggestions?build own solar panel

What they dont tell people is that the environmental cost of producing the hydrogen in large quantites creates more greenhouse emissions then using a combustion engine. Also, the cost of a fuel cell will never go down since it mainly consists of precious metals such as gold, which if anything is getting more expensive.
