We receive a lot of traffic from images. Well not a ton but a significant amount. tagging all your images is a must.

I’ve been doing all these tips recently. Check out my latest tips on commenting post, I think I pretty much covered the bases for the phrase ‘tips for commenting on blogs’, as well as some other, more natural variation on the same.

I’ve also noticed that since I’ve started formulating my posts in this manner that my hits have been increasing with each post. A nice step forward from last years slow growth. I hope this year to triple, if not increase 10 fold, the traffic to my site. All from tips like these.

I added an Alt tag to one of my images and i receive a few extra hits from the image. Not a large amount but every hit counts!
Using keywords in the title tag is a must!

Nice tips and thanks for the great list of other resources. Title Tags and internal linking are probably the most important on-page optimization elements and on the vast majority of sites their internal linking structure can be greatly improved.

I’ve ignored the ALT tags and image names in the past but I’m learning from my mistakes and videos like this of course. I always thought of it in terms of SEO but never as a way of bringing traffic in by people looking for images. Always learning something new!

I can’t tell you how many extra visitors I get from Google as a direct result of properly named image tags. They give me at least a few visitors a day easily. Well named alt/title fields in your image tags really can make a difference.

One thing I do with my image tags is put in common mispellings. I also do this with the names of the images themselves. If you haven’t tried this, you won’t believe how many people type in a misspelled word in a search engine. How do you find the common misspellngs? Just go to Google and type in “misspelling generator” and you’ll get a bunch of online typo/misspelling generators.

This is really good on page SEO advice that I think is usually overlooked. It seems to me (and I can’t back this up other than just observations) that Google seems to put some major weight with the picture tags, so it’s definitely worth it. Thanks for sharing!

I used to add mis-spellings in as text, but this looks a bit stupid… Image alt tags is a much better way of doing it

The title tag has to be the single most important thing one can do for on-page optimization. Next is getting your keyword phase in your H1 tag then repeated again in the content. I have a checklist that I use for every page when optimizing websites.

Without on site optimization you can build links until you’re blue in the face, and your ranking still won’t happen. Both on page and off page optimization needs to be addressed in a successful search engine optimization effort.

Some good lessons here. However, one of the most important is the idea of “on-site” SEO. In order to be as successful as possible in the search engines you have to make sure you’re using both effectively “on-site” and “off-site” SEO. You must work on both and have them optimized in a way that reinforces the other.

You need to use keywords in all those places but I think that you should really limit yourself. Posting keywords everywhere can sometimes make the site look like it’s done only for search engines and not for readers. And there are people who pick up on it and leave.

Although optimizing keywords on-page is recommended for SEO, one must be very careful not to overdo it. I would suggest varying the key phrases slightly from title, description, keywords meta, headers, etc and not always using exactly the same phrase everywhere.

Hi there, I’ve heard that having keywords all over the title tags and meta tags is actually bad. From what I’ve been reading its all about having keywords in the content and getting links from relevant websites with similar content. Can anyone definately clear this up for me?

Honestly, classroom type SEO training is quite expensive when you think about the amount of knowledge there is on the Internet. Most if not all the instructors of these trainings, some which are experts in the SEO field have received their expertise & knowledge from the Internet not from a classroom training session.

The basic problem, though, is that there’s no clear definition of what “advanced SEO” entails. What I consider advanced, you might consider basic — and vice versa. So I’d suggest keeping an eye on the conferences so you can pick and choose the sessions you think will be most helpful, the speakers you want to hear, etc.
