BagsOnTheRun: Shop with Reusable Shopping Bags

Posted by mesamj

This is a guest post for Bagsontherun.com.

I love shopping, strolling in the mall and just buying whatever I want. Not only me but most of people  really love to do that .However at the end of every shopping spree is the bunch of plastic bags that are left. It is very hard to eliminate these really; the Earth just can’t keep it anymore. Did you know that the average US family uses approximately 1,000 plastic bags per year! That number astonished me, and that’s why I love using Reusable shopping Bags!

I’m very passionate about using reusable bags for all my shopping needs whenever I go shopping. It’s not only a cost effective way to do my shopping but it also helps save the planet from the tragedy of wasted plastic bags blowing in the wind, clogging landfills and waterways and harming wildlife that ingests or gets entangled in the filmy stuff. It is about time that every shopper have his/her own reusable shopping bag. My latest find on the internet is a place called BagsontheRun a company that sells Reusable bags at great prices.

BagsOnTheRun offers basic, simple & stylish reusable bags which includes Grocery Bags, Shopping Bags, Customized Bags with company Logos for a very reasonable price, with a ten-pack going for between $16 and about $20. The bags are made of polypropylene, making them very strong, chemical resistant and 100% recyclable.

Bags on the Run come in a variety of colors and styles, from plain colors to “Going Green” logos. Out of the selection,
the Navy “G” bag is probably the cutest in my opinion, although knowing me; I would be inclined to go for the plain black.

You can’t beat the price on these and they are especially perfect for grocery shopping. I have a set of similar bags and they are the first thing I reach for when I need an easy tote. Also check out their fundraising and corporate page, where you can order custom bags for your organization.

Anybody looking to buy bags for personal use, to give as gifts, or companies not only buying for retail use, but to give away at trade shows, company functions, holidays, etc. can get them here.

Hi.

I am also very fond of using these reusable bags because of their different designs and they are a great help to our environment. I find them very useful in any type of baggage use.

Thanks for promoting the use of these bags on your blog.

Aye, I agree. Re-useable bags are not a hard transition. Remembering to bring them to the store is pretty easy. The fun thing about re-useable bags it that you can get whatever you want. You can show a bit of you to fellow shoppers rather than have a bag that says Safeway. Excellent guest post.

I like the post but I have to disagree with neurology. The transition to these bags is not hard at all, but remembering to bring them the next time you go grocery shopping….Forget about it.

Starting from march the use of recycled paper bags instead of plastic bags is mandatory in shops in my country (Romania), so it’s a good step in a more eco-friendly world

This is actually the best idea since sliced bread! I end up with a great deal of the bags from the grocery store, and while I try to re-use them as much as possible, I still end up with a lot. Grocery stores ususally have a bin in the front of the store to deposit the bags you have collected. I will look up the website you mentioned. I like the idea of having all of my bags alike, and not to have various grocery store logos on them.

Hi Mesamj,
That is an amazing idea. I think everyone should have such ideas to use reusable bags. Selling reusable bags is also a good business idea where you make money out of scrap. I have seen small shops where used plastic bottles were sold. Keep coming out more of such posts.

I’m not sure how much one bag fits. How many do you have? We usually go shopping once a month to buy everything we need then a few times to buy produce, water, and snacks.

Where I live it is rare that you’ll find reusable bags in the supermarkets. However I found a bag like that in a supermarket in London and I’m using that now (for the most part).

No, I love the way you think! The problem is that we go through hundreds of thousands of grocery bags a day! Most people do not reuse them, they carry their groceries in them for about 20 min to load and unload their car. Then they throw them away to sit in a landfill for hundreds of years. The trick is to rotate in your case. I use the linen bags for most of my groceries.

Bagsontherun produces the reusuable bag which is nice to hear…The bag is made up of polypropylene which has high durability and chemical resistance. This polyolefin is considered the most versatile of the plastic family which explains its continuing and rapid increase in use. ..It is mainly meant for recycling…It is a environmental friendly bag because it is made up of good plastic material….I am ready to buy that bag….
Cool information!!!!

Ok, I haven’t read all the comments here but can easily see the vibe. But allow me to play devil’s advocate for a moment. I live in NYC so those folks who live in a small apt may identify well with this.

Not too long ago I jumped headlong onto the reusable bag bandwagon but quickly found that i was running out of garbage bags. You see, I reuse the plastic bags i get from grocery store as bags for my garbage. And then it occurred to me that if I use reusable bags for shopping then i’ll need to ‘buy’ plastic garbage bags. Bit of a paradox but I think the answer lies in making a bio-degradable plastic, or plastic-like bag.

I hope i’m not ruffling any feathers. I am very earth conscience and would love to hear your thoughts.

I am a sucker for reusable shopping bags, too. They are just great to carry around the mall, because they don’t make you look less fashionable and stylish, unlike those ugly plastic bags that get out of shape and crumple up after a while of walking around.

I always reuse my plastic bag that I got from grocery stores for packing my lunch and my garbage bag. It seems like most of people use these plastic bags for their garbage use as well. Maybe we should come up with better alternative that are both durable and bio-degradable.

The great plastic waste dump in the Pacific ocean is a telling reminder of just how much we are wasting as aspecies, whilst negatively impacting our environment. Simple things like shopping with reusable plastic shopping bags will go a long way towards addressing these pollution issues. The next step should be to hold brands like Coca Cola responsible for the plethora of their empty containers littering our planet. They are raking in the big bucks, and it is about time they are held responsible for what becomes of their empty containers!

I LOVE love LOVE reusable shopping bags. The first time I tried one I was hooked. Why wouldn’t you want a bag that you can sling over your shoulder and carry 2 or 3 times as much stuff in compared to those horrible plastic bags.
I was also very frustrated at how thin plastic bags had become because they were always breaking.
I hate seeing any trash on the roadsides and in the rivers but plastic bags are especially disturbing.
Happy Shopping!!
