		<description>Good that your site is online now. I know how it irritates. You loose a lot of your visitors/money and you just can&#039;t do nothing but phone hosting support. I belive that good support is most important when you buy hosting (I always advise to check if it is available 24h a day).</description>

		<description>I&#039;ve been using 1and1 for a few years now. Their domain registration prices were the best when I started, but their prices have increased to the point where they are now more expensive than many others. Their tech support has been very frustrating, sometimes waiting on the phone for over 2 hours before speaking with someone. 

The 1and1 Transfers department is what sent me over the edge. I asked them to set my domains so they would not automatically renew.  First, they failed to do this, seemingly ignoring my request after they emailed me to confirm it, which resulted in $1000 bill for renewal of domain names I didn&#039;t want renewed (I am still waiting to see if they issue a refund).  Second, when they did finally act on my request, they canceled the domain names rather than set them to not renew. When I emailed them about the problem, they ignored it. Over 1000 of my websites were down for three weeks despite me sending multiple emails asking for them to fix their error and restore the websites. They didn&#039;t respond for three weeks. Finally they said they were working on the issue, but it still has not been resolved.  Needless to say, this type of service cannot be tolerated when I rely on websites for business income.

I am leaving 1and1 and moving to HostGator for hosting and Moniker for domain name registration.</description>

They are pretty big, so I would be surprised if their servers were down much. The only think I don&#039;t like is that they don&#039;t use a cpanel.</description>
