Bad breath is just the asthetic problem. What is really a concern is the illnesses that plaque can cause. All of the brown buildup on dog's teeth is full of bacteria and when the gums get inflammed that bacteria is making it into their bloodstream and can affect all the organs. If you can't or won't brush your dog's teeth I have found that plain rawhide chews work really well at keeping the plaque buildup down!
