Video of the Author of “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind”

Posted by Pixelhead

I first heard about the story of, William Kamkwamba, a young resourceful African man, several months ago when I stumbled across an article about this young man who learned to build windmills out of materials that he found and which supply electricity to his village.
When he first started building windmills, he was 14, and not in school. Watch the video or better yet order his book if you want to learn more.

I just love stories about people like this because their stories offer so much hope. It almost inspires me to try to make one in my own back yard.

If you want to purchase his book, the widget below was copied right off of William Kamkwamba’s blog.

I love it,  he didn’t even know about Google. What is amazing is you look at what this young lad was able to accomplish with so very few resources. I am sure he will be able to accomplish some amazing things with all the resources that he now has at his disposal.

So What do you think of Mr. Kamkwamba’s story?

That’s a cool, inspiring story. He dropped out of school due to famine in his country, and rather than wasting time, he went to the library to learn how to build a windmill.

Also, check out the circuit breaker he created. The homemade circuit breaker is remarkably resourceful, using nails, wire, and a magnet.

It’s hard to believe this story is true. Amazing.

He’s really gifted with talent. His attitude is just a plus of his overall success. This serves as an inspiration to everyone that in our own little way, we can still do something incredible.

That’s an inspiring story. But, you know actually there are really people like that who love to invent and are very creative who also have confidence in doing what he desires or what he believes that will benefit everyone.

An inspiring story that is worth to share on facebook. :) Some geniuses find school boring. They feel contained in a box where there are directions and guidelines which limits them to express their creativeness.

Sounds great! hats off to this guy .. he really did a great job. I too appreciate too much people who aim at giving the maximum out of the minimum resources they have … God bless him .. and this also proves that intelligence is the thing that has its worth in spite of hi-fi degrees and qualifications

This is quite interesting. When I first heard the news on ABC news, I thought it was a joke. But saw it again in the week in our local papers and knw it wasn’t an early April fool’s joke.

Nice that he’s not only getting his name out on the world stage, but he’s shown what can be achieved if people put their money where their mouth is so-to-speak.

I’ve read about this man’s story myself, and as somebody who is extremely interested in sustainability and living off the grid, it really resonated with me. His handiness is a reflection on that what makes us a a human race stand out above the animal kingdom. Awesome, inspirationbal stuff!

I saw him being interviewed on “Think.” Not only are congratulations due to him, but this underscores the need for common resources in every community, no matter how poor or underserved. Where would this man and his village be had there been no library?

Very true Cynthia. Libraries in many communities are not fully utilized, but do serve people like this young lad.

This is really an inspirational story of a very special young man. It just goes to show you how mankind, even without the help of Google (heheheh) is creative and innovative, and will eventually rise above whatever obstacles are placed in our way, come hell or high water.

I would like to see where this guy is in a couple of year’s time, the world needs people like him to be successful, and to share his story of hope and success with other people, uplifting all in the process.

Mr. Kamkwamba is really an inspiration. I guess it goes to remind us that gold old Yankee ingenuity is not limited just to this country! :-)

Creative minds such as this boy deserves our applause. This is one of a kind because at such a young age, he already made a superb thing that helps the community and the environment as well.

That’s a great story. It wouldn’t be such an inspiring story if the little warlords in Africa would let their people do what needs to be done and educate the people so that they do not need to depend on scrap to build a windmill.

I don’t know what happened, but the video is no longer available here. It says the video is not available in my country, I would have loved to see it too.

Thanks anyway.

This is a great story. Truly inspiring. Hoping to see what else he’ll do in the future and read about his future accomplishments.
