I am Using an IPhone Camera

Posted by Pixelhead

Since writing the post “How Do I Get Out of My T-Mobile Contract?“, we have gotten out of our contract and switched to AT&T. It has been only several days, but all of our calls have come through and we have not dropped any either. But it is still too early to for me to say if AT&T is better than T-Mobile all together.

Other than the lack of coverage, we were very satisfied with the T-mobile customer support, at least it seemed like they tried to meet all of our needs when possible.

Anyway, I have been getting myself acquainted to the iPhone(not sure I am keeping it though) and I took several pictures of one of our Russell D’Alessio’s  to compare.  The left pic was taken with my Canon S5 IS and the right pic was taken with the iPhone camera.

Notice that the wall color is white on the iPhone camera picture and the Canon displays as the actual green color. But other than that, the picture taken with the 2.0 mega pixel camera of the iPhone looks good enough for the web.

I will have to take a pic with my wife’s Blackberry to compare to the IPod.

I would like to thank the Minnesota Attorney, Aaron Hall for his comment on the T-Mobile post, which encouraged me to keep making phone calls. The right thing to say when talking to T-mobile, was to tell them I wanted out of my contract, and then they asked me why. The customer service agent then asked for my address so that he could verify on their map that they indeed did not service our area. We then had to go into a T-Mobile store with an ID that had our address on it to verify the location. Our account was put on a tentative closure for the end of the month.

The same day we canceled our T-mobile contract, we visited the AT&T Store in Pottstown, PA to get info about cost of services and available phones, but delayed signing up with their services until my wife did her due diligence. The next day after she did some research, and after we decided that I would get an IPhone and she would get another Blackberry, we stopped in and signed the family up for new cell phones.

If you have a smart phone, how do you like it? Have you had an IPhone? Got any iPhone tips for me? What are the must have iPhone apps? What iPhone photo editing apps do you use?

It is quite unbelievable what one can get combined in one mobile device these days. In another couple of years we’ll most propably have more processing and storage power than the average PC of today, with huge battery life to boot. I am waiting for the laser projector that will give you a full size screen on any flat white surface.

I’m really surprised that the iPhone wiped out the green from your photo and turned it white. It also looks like it changed the light pink flesh color from the original photo into bright pink. Not that I expect a phone camera to be perfect, but those are some pretty big changes.

Regarding the launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and its 8.1 megapixel phone, it couldn’t come too soon. There have been lots of complaints about the current Android phone cameras.

iPhone’s camera features 2 megapixels. This isn’t exactly hot, but it’s better than most camera phones on the market any of which have 1.3 megapixels at best,

As of lately this is one of the greatest revelations I’ve had in my daily iPhone use. Want to know what it is? It’s the camera! Being a photography junky I know that the iPhone’s camera isn’t top of the line quality, and that initially turned me off from ever using my iPhone’s camera.

Hi Pixelhead,

I think the clarity is good 2.0 mega pixel. But i can’t believe this much of clarity cause i have seen many of the 2.0 mega pixel phones but i didn’t seen this much clarity..

The iphone only having this best clarity option i believe..

Thanks for updating us a good blog.. keep up your good post.

I don’t like to use mobile phones as a camera cause the picture quality is always low. And it always funny when I see that some mopile phone has more MPx ex. 15 than my digital camera ;)

I’ve been an iphone user for over a year. Blackberry is still a better email platform, but after that there is no comparison. I’ve been able to give up my aircard (59/mo) and don’t even use my laptop but about 1/3 the time I used too.
The iphone is the first hand held computer– and except for lousy ATT coverage, i’d love it unconditionally.

You’ve seen THE MAP of ATT and verizon, they aren’t kidding.

With the innovations these days, you can just expect more than what the usual is. I think iPhone is really useful not only in some ways it is applicable. They have so many applications and you can juts take a look on how the two differs, though not much of a difference.

I recently got the new droid instead of my blackberry because I always upgrade. This is the second phone that I have purchased after having bought the blackberry but I always go back, lol. It just seems to work best for what I need to do. My advice. Stick to the Blackberry if you do any type of sales.

I wonder how far we are from total unification cameras with phones. Nowadays we have so great cameras inside phones that it was unthinkable few years ago. I think that within next five or six years we will get cameras fully combined with phones. And the difference will not be recognizable.
