Blogging Essentials Intro

Posted by Pixelhead

This is the introductory video to the Blogging Essentials series that I will be doing on Socialtivity.net.
I have been meaning to do a “How to Blog” series, and I thought I would host the series on Socialtivity, which is an example of the Socialtivity social media content manager and online community software platform from Liquid Interactive, which happens to be one of our best business partners.

Stop on by Socialtivity to read the Blogging Essentials blog post series, I’ll be sure to link to the blog posts from here asĀ  articles are added to the series.

Here is the first post in the Blogging Essentials series.

Want to Share Your Blogging Knowledge?

If you would be interested in participating in the blogging series, please let me know via the comment form here. You can add your post onto Socialtivity or you can keep it on your own blog, but be listed as part of the series.

I went to soacialtivity but it required me to be a member to leave a comment on your post (my first blog was on wordpress.com and had a comment on that). I am hesitant to sign up for another membership site right now not because I don’t like them but because I may like them too much! ;-) But I may do so to follow your series.

PS: I hope you weren’t really driving while recording that vid!

Keith, no I wasn’t driving, just sitting in the parking lot of one of the ice arenas my son played at last weekend.
One of my suggestions for them is to open up commenting..I really dislike having to create a profile to comment.

Connecting with potential customers seems to be leaning towards media that is much more interactive. Will look into the concept of the “self hosted” blog.

Thanks!

You caught my attention again, and I’m looking forward watching this since I’m going to add a blog to my store. I already decided not to chose one of the free web blogs sites. Instead I invest a little more work and time and nobody can talk me into my own blog or shut it down whenever they feel like I might not stick to 110% to their terms and conditions.

This is just one great idea! Giving some basic tips to newbies is something we miss a lot and I think that this would bring huge feedback. Your efforts surely will be noticed by many bloggers.

I still think the most important thing is ensuring your post titles are compelling and contain the relevant keywords… I also think that making your links do follow is also beneficial…

Social media looks to be the next big thing.

I like the fact that it brings things back to the word of mouth and away from large corporate advertising.

For me this is very useful as I’m trying to get up and running a book that helps people to use organic compost but it’s difficult to get the word out there.

Social mediums can help with this exponentially!

Regards,

Adam Johnstone

Good video, I’ve been seeing a lot of blogging tips lately as the practice of blogging has been picking up popularity dramatically in the past year or two. It seems like almost everyone has a blog of their own these days but most people don’t really know what to do with it or how to make it popular. What’s the point of a blog if no one else reads it? It’s just a journal then…

Blogging isn’t really hard to deal with, even kids nowadays start their own blogs via Multiply or Blogger; it’s how these blogs could be put to good use that needs to be further learned.

There are so many benefits in building your self hosted websites. Compared to free blog hosted website, you have the full control of your site when you’re working with a self hosted blog.

Looking forward to more tips all about blogging.

Thanks for the tips. I am curious about getting dinged for duplicate content if I’m using this Socialtivity site to send out material to all my social sites. Any insights on that?

Bart, the content that you would be pushing would be content for social media sites, not content for your site. Of course your site is going to have unique content that will avoid the duplicate content issues.
