Donate to the RedCross to Help Haitian Earthquake Victims

Posted by Pixelhead

Unless you are living under a rock, or spending way to much time online, then you are aware of the earthquake that hit Hati the other day. With close to 500,000 dead, and countless wounded, this poor country will need lots of assistance to move beyond the devistation.

If you feel so inclinded to donate, you can text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to Red Cross relief efforts in #haiti.

I was just on the RedCross Facebook page and they have recieved $3million in donations as of 750am this morning.

The red cross confirmed a 3 million dollar donation on behalf of Twitter. Half a million people were killed, this is a very tragic incident.

Great idea and quick way to raise money, but I do wonder how many kids punched this into their unknowing parents’ phones? :)

Good to see so many people donating. I donated 20$ yesterday through other charity. Hope everything is fine soon.

I’d also like to encourage people to start donating as much they can and ask their friends, families to do the same.

I believe that we should donate some of our money to Haitian Earthquake Victims. If we don’t help them.. who will?

This is a very good initiative. The online channels makes it faster and easier to direct money in cases as the Haiti earthquake.

I understand donations reached $21 Million in the first days proceeding the TV ‘telethon’

The Salvation Army who have had a presence in Haiti for some years also have a donation text number:
Text Haiti to 52000 to make an immediate donation of $10 to the Salvation Army

You can verify the number at http://blog.salvationarmyusa.org/

Normally these donations by phone don’t get paid until you pay the following cell phone bill, some carriers are fronting the money to expedite the aid.

The Haitian people are accustomed to dealing with difficult conditions, I hate to think of the panic such an event would cause in California.

I love that people have stepped up to help out Hati. The only thing that I don’t like is the fact that it takes such a devastating crisis to get people up to help. I wish we did this for all crippled nations. I guess at least people are helping…. *sigh
