Facebook Fan Pages are Cached

Posted by Pixelhead

Since creating the Baldydog Facebook Fan Page, we have really not done too much with our fan page. However, the other day, I got a Google Alert for the our company name “baldydog”. I opened the email and saw that the Facebook Fan page was the mention..kind of strange, since I had not posted anything on the fan page in quite some time.

Not thinking about it too much, later on that day, I came across a post on Facebook or Twitter that Google is now caching Facebook Fan pages, but not the millions of user pages.  I think the person that left the messege might have been a little annoyed that their personal face book pages were not going to show up in Google.

So knowing that these pages will now be seen by not only my Facebook fans, but also anyone that might come across them on Google.  Cool, that just might provide me a little bit of incentive to post on it more frequently.

What is the Purpose of the Baldydog Fan Page?

But what will I do with the fan page? As Social Media Marketing, commented on the Creating a Facebook Fan Page, how will it benefit people who become fans of Baldydog on Facebook?

  1. Find helpful SEO and Online marketing resources or blog posts which are not mine.
  2. Find links to SEO related blog posts that I have done here or elsewhere.
  3. Allow fans to share SEO related info.
  4. Be a place to pass on Baldydog.com news.
  5. The Fan Page is another outpost, which will serve to redirect visitors to the blog(s).

What Else can I do to create value for the Baldydog Facebook Fan page?

Providing some great tools on your fan page helps a lot. Also, answering some questions by your fans posted on that facebook page adds value and authority on the page.

I agree with Ron. We try to share tips and resources about getting organized or something that brings value. For example, at this time of year we’ll start posting updates about spring cleaning, getting your house ready for summer, etc.

I also try to create a community – a place for people to go and connect with each other.

I’ve had a fan page set up for a long time, but it’s never brought me any traffic or come up in any of my searches. Maybe you actually need members…

I agree with Manhattan. With things like forums and fan clubs, no one will join unless members are already there… Which ultimately leads to a club/forum with zero members! If you have people to help you (or you could just fake) the initial 20-30 members and create meaningful discussion you’re more likely to have it grow into something… Cheers.

It’s an interesting approach. I commonly see unexceptional views on the subject but yours it’s written in a pretty unusual fashion. Surely, I will revisit your website for additional info.

Facebook is quite safe. You can alter your privacy settings so only your friends can see your profile, and if you don’t want some of your friends seeing everything, you can give them limited access to your profile.

Interesting topic. There are affiliate marketers even taking advantage of creating fan pages to optimize CPA offers. Essentially, folks are going to their particular interest and an offer is tied in the back end. Since it is low involvement (doesn’t require any cost/emotional involvement for the user), it can sometimes be an effective strategy. This will of course not work too well with friends as they may consider this spam.

Facebook is one of the great tool online to promote products, services and anything and Google starts recognizing it. I guess it cannot help your SEO ranking since the link is nofollow but this could be a great tool promoting your business and driving direct traffic if you know how to use it

I joined a fan page on Facebook, and it said I needed to clear my cache to receive what it was offering. Does anyone know how to clear it?

Why you hate facebook? Its one of the top 4 sites in the world wide web. If you are not using nor leveraging the power of it, then you are loosing traffic and branding potential.

Yes Facebook fan pages are cached and can add our design to the fan page in HTML format. I think it is the one of the best way to reach about the business in many people. As social media sites are receiving huge amount of traffic it will help to market product or services also we can add do follow link in face book fan page so we will get a back link through.

Use facebook for planning events, creating more awareness about issues, and just chatting. Don’t use it for personal conversations that can be done face to face

That is interesting. I have noticed that facebook pages are now int he searches more. This could be a great way to increase back links. I have been wary of using all the social media tools for my business. I am working on a personal page and this could help out quite nicely.

@Manhattan
You have to create an event or something with a few Keywords in Facebook and google takes it after the next re-bot in the Top 10! A Friend of mine tried it and now he is in the Top 5 in google with his Facebook group.
