Posted by Pixelhead

I was watching the news this morning and the CEO of Webimax.com was being interviewed on the Fox Philly channel, and he had several brilliant suggestions for those looking for jobs.

  1. Connect with him or people like him that are hiring on Linkedin and Facebook.
  2. Use a Video Resume.

10 Video Resume Questions:

  1. How to Write a Video Resume?
  2. What are the parts of a video resume?
  3. How long should a video resume be?
  4. Where can I see some video resume samples?
  5. How much does it cost to get a video resume made professionally?
  6. Can I make a video resume?
  7. Can I make a video resume series?
  8. Is there a business opportunity in the making of video resumes?
  9. Who are the major players in the video resume industry?
  10. Who should have a video resume?

So what do you know about networking for employement, and the use of video resumes? Can you answer any of the Video resume questions?

I think it is important to exhaust all avenues when looking for a job, and I think having a video resume is a good way to get hired. Of course, you have to make sure it is a good one. The best thing about a video resume is that you can take as long as you want in creating it.

Wait a sec… Isn’t Linkdn just a nofollow resource? If so – is there any use from it except couple of visitors per week??

Jammie, I was not suggesting that Linkedin be used for SEO purposes, but for networking purposes…I think Linkedin is a great site to connect with professionals with similar interests or needs.

It’s a new and a great way to apply through a video resume. It’s shows your appearance and how you interact on the video, so to get a good opportunity. You can say all the main points which you can’t mentioned in a 2page copy of a resume. I will go through it and try to find the answers of all the ques. mentioned above.

A video resume is a short video created by a candidate for employment that describes the individual’s skills and qualifications and is typically used to supplement a traditional resume.

Tips to Help You Prepare a Professional Video Resume:

* Dress professionally in business attire, just as if you were going to an in-person interview.
* Keep your video resume short: one – three minutes.
* Look at the camera not at the desk or table below you.
* Don’t speak too fast.
* Make sure there isn’t any background noise and that the wall behind you isn’t too busy.
* Practice what you’re going to say ahead of time.
* Start by mentioning your name (first and last).
* Focus on your professional endeavors, not your personal ones.
* Discuss why you would be a good employee and what you can do for the company that hires you.
* Thank the viewer for considering you for employment.

I haven’t really considered doing an outright video resume, however I think that it might be good to do some videos that aren’t straight up video resumes, but which might help with getting a job none-the-less. Videos that showcase a person’s skills could be good, and could be put up on Youtube, Facebook etc… I think that would help a person build a presence, though with the potential to backfire if one isn’t careful.
I haven’t personally known anyone (that I’m aware of) that’s been hired thanks to a video resume, but as others have mentioned it’s important to use every avenue you can.

Generally depends on what kind of company you are applying to, for example when you are applying for a computer company then such resumes are ok, but I guess it would be more appropriate and more personnal for a person to apply in a more traditional way, especially when applying in a corporate venue or company.

Just like a paper resume, presentation and quality are important, so attention to detail means a lot. A good-quality video resumé can range from something that someone shot at home on an old camcorder to a professionally-shot video that could have been paid for, not unlike a resume writing service. …

While a video resume might help you stand out in a crowd, I would suggest that you would want to have something done professionally rather than whipping out the web cam and “winging it.” It just seems like there are too many ways to come across as foolish or unprofessional if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Combining different way of Social marketing is very powerful marketing strategy. I usually create my ads with a firefox plugin and post in few networks at the same time. As well I leverage my strategy into different networking which I think is the key for proper internet marketing and bencharck the results.
