Chevy Volt Test Drive: Engadget Style

Posted by Pixelhead

Engadget test drives the Chevy Volt, which Chevy considers to be an electric car with extra range due to the use of a supplemental gas engine..sounds like a cool car. You can watch the video and see the write that was done by Chris Stevens in the orginal post Engadget test drives the Chevy Volt

Yea, it looks like a fun little car to drive.

How about you?

Would own one or even test drive a Chevy Volt?

That is a pretty cool car. I wonder how much it will go for? Most hybrids aren’t even worth buying yet (money wise). Maybe this one will be.

I didn’t know that the gas engine wasn’t connected to the wheels. Looks to be a nice car. I just wonder what the price tag is going to be.

But how much will it cost? For some reason, hybrid cars that are brought over to Asia cost as much or even more than luxury cars. Why buy those when you can get a BMW or a Mercedes Benz for the same price?

We know 2010′s just begun, but between all this noise and the promise of a legitimate 4G radio on board, let’s be real — we’re already looking at a very, very early contender for smartphone of the year. Let’s not run into any major roadblocks between here and retail, alright, guys?

They are thinking about releasing the Chevy Volt around November of this year at a price tag around $30,000 I believe. My sister has a Toyota Prius and she loves it. I am sure that the Volt will be just as cool of a car.

Oh great!! it’s pretty cool one. but I have some doubts regarding this, as how much it will deliver in concern with speed/kilometers/hour. And of course the price tag which is the most important for These types of cars. If it’s more than the petrol/diesel luxrious cars, then it’s worth buying.

Very cool car. But I’m wary of only the electric engine driving the wheel. The gasoline engine only acts as a generator for the electric engine so what if the electric engine breaks down?

I riped two solar panels out of some solar light and tested them. I found out that they both produce 2 volts(I have no idea on the watts or amps).

The technology they are developing these days is just staggering. When I look at the this car I wonder what would happen to all those batteries in a head on collision. I look forward to the day when one of these appears in my body shop.

Chevy Volt
************
With fully charged batteries, enough electrical energy will be stored to power the Volt up to 40 miles (64 km). This distance is capable of satisfying the daily commute for 75% of Americans,[6] whose commute is on average 33 miles (53 km)

The Volt is really futuristic looking on the inside. It was advertised during the 2010 Olympic games. It is interesting how the gasoline motor only acts as a generator.

Chevy is making a great job with cars who protect our environment, the only problem is the high prices. Twice the price of a normal gas car.

The Volt looks pretty cool, though I think it has been like 3 years in the making and it’s still not out yet. And it’s really expensive.

That car is totally cool. You actually could drive on it and never use any gas. I think it has a 40 mile range and then the gas engine would kick in. If you drove under 40 miles a day then really you would not ever have to use gas.

I have heard a lot of good things about this car. There is also another new hybrid car that is supposed to come out when the Volt does to try and complete. I test drove a prius and was impressed but it wasn’t for me. I wonder if the Volt will be?

How frustrating is it that you barely see what this car looks like from the outside? Just a fleeting look as he got in the car. I’ll have to track down some photos, because this looks like a sweet car. I love how quiet it is inside, especially since I drive an extremely noisy car :)

GM definitely has gone in a good direction here. I don’t know if id say its really that great looking, but it is practical, and nicely high-tech.
