This long over due Facebook Optimization blog post focuses on some apps and more that I use on Facebook or have recommended others use. Today, more and more businesses are using Fan pages, so this is a huge opportunity for Social Media Consultants.

Hubspot article that tells you how to claim your Facebook vanity urls ..I grabbed mine for the Baldydog Fan page
I have also heard that it is possible for fan pages to like other fan pages…here is the link to the Facebook App that allows Fan pages to like other Fan pages thereby aligning brands.
Another great app that I have used is selective tweets on #FB ..this is great so that you can update your Facebook profile or Fan page by placing #fb at the end of Tweets that you want to include in your updates. This will greatly reduce the noise on your Facebook page, and please all your fans.
Facebook landing pages – for brands and anyone who wants to create a landing page on their Facebook profile, be sure to check out this Problogger post.
facebook badges – be sure to include Facebook badges all over your site..hmm..I have to do this too..As a Social Media Consultant, Social Media clients to place not only Facebook badges, but Twitter, Youtube and LinkedIn badges also, if their potential customers are playing on those SM sites that is.
Use the networked blogs on Facebook to update both fan and personal pages automatically when you publish a blog post.
Lastly, limit your Facebook activity. What I mean by this is don’t feed too much info to your Facebook Fans. Very few people want to see all of your Tweets and other updates, so limit the number of daily updates you do on your fan page. Focus on quality not quantity.

Having a customized URL for Facebook pages is not as… well… customized as before. Just over a year ago, I have had a custom URL for my personal page by actually typing what custom URL you want. Today, you can only select from the given choices provided by Facebook. Well, at least in my case, the “Choose your own” option has been disabled.

@ Nita: Same probs you notice with WordPress Permalinks. You have to put up an own domain and blogsystem to create your own Permalinks. Using WordPress without an own webspace does not give you the possibility of optimizing your custom Urls.

Liking other fan pages to align the brands is a great idea. The fans will see the conjunction between both parties and have confidence on the respected companies. Great information!

@Nita, if Customized URL, if you notices they give you chance to select your own url if the url is available then they give it, if not then they offer you other url.

facebook is great for traffic.also twitter trends, but i think that if you want to make money you need a long therm method.

yes this is a great post, i agree for using the NetworkedBlogs App in facebook to update the fanpage also for fans to know what was going on your site and for them to participate in discussions.

How about add the WP tool that let you show the comments on your blog to facebook?

One thing though, is it advisable to put a discussion board on fanpage?

Nice Tips. This will be another opportunity small businesses have for optimizing Facebook Places is through advertising. Once you create a place, you can then advertise just as you would on your fan page. While the current set up will not allow you to target people who check in to your location, you can however, target those who “Like” your Place. Thanks for a very informative post.

I did not know about Fan Pages liking other Fan pages thing. I am surely going to check that application out. I think nowadays Facebook has become a great source of traffic for blogs and optimizing it to make the most our of it is very much important

The aim of every blogger is to get some people to view their page and write some posts. Getting traffic from Facebook is quite a easier task by adding link in your Facebook Fan page.
