The Story of Ted Williams Silky Smooth Voice

Posted by Pixelhead

Since doing the Online Video Voice Over post for my buddy Voice Over Jim, I heard about Ted Williams, a homeless man who has a voice that is truly silky smooth. Below is the YouTube video that made Ted Williams famous.

Update: You can still view the original video that is copyrighted by an archaic newspaper that believes copyright is the answer to their woes.

The video has gone viral, and has been seen by millions of viewers. The actual video that went viral was taken down from YouTube, because the AP said they were violating copyright laws..go figure.

Mr. Williams did go to school to learn to be announcer, but as often happens hard times which included alcohol and drug abuse as well as entanglements with the law.  After being derailed for nearly 20 years, with the help of God,  Ted seems to be on track for a remarkable voice over career.

Ted has had multiple offers including being the announcer for the Cleveland Cavaliers, four commercials for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese at $10,000 a pop, and an offer to be in a movie with Jack Nicholson.

What do you think of Mr. Williams silky smooth voice?

I heard about this story the other day and was floored! His voice truly is incredible, but more importantly, he can now make a life for himself. Stories like these remind me that there are still some great people in the world that are able to see the talents of others and help make their dreams come true.

It really is heart-warming to see a story like this. Second chances (or for Ted, probably third, fourth, or fifth chances) really do exist, and it only takes a bit of luck (Providence?) to see them through.

It looks like a great story and all but the guy needs to get his grip with the alcohol and his temper. Long time from complete recovery but yeah, Life always finds a way to give a chance to anyone. the Keyword here is patience!

“Hi Pixelhead”, the video was gone or deleted maybe.
Anyway just also watched that reports and in fact he already did a radio announcer during his younger age, because of his drugs activities and other vices it leads all to his downfall.

This will be a good news for him if he wanted to gain back his profession, in fact he already signed for new contract under new radio show. His voice is really that great and that was the Best voice I ever heard. Really amazing, If you look at his face You will never know that he owns a good voice.

Agreed with post #3. Let’s hope now that Ted is in rehab, he can get a hold of himself, realize that his life changed completely, and learns to deal with that change.

I hope this guy can survive the media attention he will be facing. I also hope he has support to prevent him from slipping, because the media can quickly turn and tear you down. I heard Bloomberg is going to hire him to make announcements about the upcoming snow. This will dramatically boost the mayor’s approval ratings.

What a great start for this guy to get back on track. Hard work, dedication, and picking oneself up after a big know are what are needed to break out of a rut. This guy has clearly done it once and hopefully he’ll be able to continue doing so. It will be a great example to so many.

I love this story. It’s only in America that you can hit rock bottom and still make something for yourself.

Thanks for posting this, i was unaware of this story.

20 year off the track is a long time, what a waste of a talent. The video is really great. Too bad it’s not on the tube anymore.

Nice story, with very hapy ending style, shame they took it off from YouTube – they take everything off that is interesting these days.

If you are after this sort of heart-warming stories google the story of a disabled man fixing up used radios by his own tools and hi has nothing else to use but his mouth. I nearly cried on that story, but unfortunately I don’t know where was it posted. That is a true story happened somewhere in Africe – perhaps Madagascar…

I must say that the story of Mr. Ted William is really heart touching. 20 years of gap in any of occupation is really vast.

I’m a firm believer that people are where they are because they want to be. He was handed success on a silver platter and he couldn’t keep it together long enough to really cash in on his limited success.

It is so sad the whole story. Ted is given a serious second chance and already he is in the process of throwing it out the window. Dr. Phil sent him to rehab and he left and it seems he was already in another altercation with his daughter and it looks he was either drunk or on drugs. Lets hope prayer puts him in back on the right track!

It would be fair to say that Ted Williams is living proof that dreams can come true — particularly the American ones . Practically overnight, he went from being a homeless nobody to a silky voiced sensation. It’s little wonder that an entire nation is transfixed on this man now nick-named “Golden Pipes”.

I heard about this on the news, too. And they showed Ted and played a clip of his voice. It’s amazing, that’s for sure. But the story is even more amazing… that this guy can go from rock bottom and receive such tremendous offers. I’m really happy for the man and think he is truly blessed.

I watched a follow-up TV news segment on Ted Williams and he seems to have gotten a lot of offers. The bad thing is that giving a former drug addict a lot of money may cause problems for him and his family.

It ‘s so sad the whole story. Ted is a serious case, second and is now about to throw out the window. This is a feel good story. You cannot really tell whats goes in a mind of person and what he/she is capable of doing just by seeing his status in life.I remember the poem, Desiderata: “Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant;they too have their story. “
