Save Some Trees for the Squirrels

After yesterdays World Ocean Day post, I was back on the 41pounds.org blog and found this great Treeless Squirrel video post.

Treeless Squirrel says, “Plant trees, please.”

Technorati Tags: ,,

The mission of 41pounds.org is to reduce the amount of paper that is wasted on junk mail, thereby saving trees. When you sign up for their services, a third of the 41 dollars goes to charities that you select. Several of the charities, actually will plant a tree for you if they are selected to receive the donation.

Why not sign up for their services?

WorldVision Saves Children

Yesterday morning, as with many Sunday mornings of late, we got up and did our morning routine and headed off to church at NorthPointe Community Church. Prior to the beginning of the year, one of the goals we set was to go to church on a regular basis. We actually started working on this goal prior to the end of last year and have been attending about every other weekend. Pretty good since it almost seems that we have done in about two months what would have been a years worth of church the last couple of years.

Today there was a guest speaker from the congregation who told us about an event that had changed her life. Instead of just doing the minimum to be involved in the church, she decided to step out of her comfort zone and take on a position of leadership in one of the groups. She admits that the only reason she did this was because when the group met, it was her and one other person. Thankfully, she says, she took on the leadership role and it was to become a life changing event for her.

Her Message

On this morning we were to hear about an organization she has become involved with called World Vision, which is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

World Vision Logo

WorldVision.org is a charitable organization that has an outstanding reputation with lots of trust worthy associations.

WorldVision Trust Chart

WorldVision has a very broad mission, but today at church we were asked to help with a small part of its mission by sponsoring a child from a third world country. The goal for the church was to sponsor 80 children from a village in Africa. For a little more than a dollar a day, $35 a month, a child could be selected to be sponsored.

So is this sponsorship forever?

The WorldVision organization goes into villages in the remote areas and meets the people to include the leaders of the village. The leaders are asked to designate families with children that are in need. Funds are then provided for such things as clothes, food, clean water, shelter, schools..etc..

Children however, do not stay on the list forever, because funds are used to not only provide for essential daily living, but families are also helped to develop skills to become economically independent. Also if children leave the location of the sponsored village, they will be taken off of the sponsorship list.

When this happens, you will be offered the opportunity to sponsor a different child from either the same village, or an entirely different location.

Did We Choose to Sponsor a Child?

Our family chose to sponsor 1 child from Mozambique, because Lizzie and I were asked to sponsor this child by Lizzie’s daughter, who agreed to do extra chores for an extra allowance that would go toward the $35per month sponsorship cost.

We also thought that since Pixelheadonline has a regularly recurring monthly income, we would allow Pixelheadonline to sponsor a child as well. So if you are a member of this community, you have the honor of helping us to sponsor a child from Guatemala.

What is WorldVision’s Goal?

Sponsorship of over 6000 children who lose a parent every day due to aids is just the tip of the iceberg. Visit the site and and see what any number of their goals are, and you too will hopefully want to get involved.

Can Your Blog Sponsor a Child?

Wouldn’t it be cool if every blog was able to sponsor a child. Then all we would have to do is match up children with bloggers. How cool would that be.

Want to get involved or want more information?

Visit the World Vision website for more information and/or if you are ready to sponsor a child or would just like to make a one time donation.

Also, be sure to stop by World Vision’s blog, to read about one of their field opratives, Rory Anderson, and her adventures in the Congo.

What do you think?

Other than sponsoring several children(hopefully more in the future) this site has no other affiliation with WorldVision.org.

Moguling with DotVentures.com

While surfing one day I ended up on Justin.Tv. Justin. tv is a site were, this young lad, JMogulingustin has video cams on 24-7 chronicling his life via Justin tv. I then ended up finding out about Moguling with DotVetures.com from some ads at the bottom of his webpage. After filling out a form on Dotventures site to get more info about moguling, I got a call from Nancy Guzman.

Nancy told me all about the programs that are available through them. I did do a little research online and came across Investing in Domains- One Noobs Experience (part 2), were one of the commentors to the post says that they had been contacted as I have been and bought the $99 silver package, as I have also done. The Domain specialist that she was working with apparently then tried to get her to buy a 5,000 domain.

I am certainly not going to be buying any domains. I am under the impression that I will be getting a free domain with the package as well as no fees for hosting, registration of the domain etc. It also gives me access to their proprietary software.

A domain specialist should be contacting me with in the next 24 to 48 hours, and I will then be writing a post about that as well.

Info that I received from Nancy.

Nancy’s spiel involved convincing me that blogs are the hot new way to develop a domain, which after being developed would be sold for a hefty income. Her figure was that on the average it is a 250% return on investment. Nice figure. So all I need to do is get a domain, that preferably refers to a passion of mine, in order to make the writing of the blog that much easier. The domain selection will be done with the aide of the domain specialist that I will be assigned. I suspect that this will be nothing more than the sales pitch to buy one of their choicest domain names. Nancy gave me the names of two domain specialists(Mark Marion or Robert Earl) that she was going try to get me assigned.

Other info:

Important websites she wanted me to look at:

Childabusecharity.com – customer

180musicstore.com- customer

Dotventures.com
- their site. At present it does not show up first when Dotventures.com was Googled. Lizzie says not to worry, because it is always the company website that gets optimized last. She says I should see how the client sites rank. 180musicstore.com did show up when I Googled it, but did not show up for “download online music blog”.
http://www.searchmarketingllc.com/- the technology site that they partner with in marketing of the domain names.

http://www.sitesrx.com/ – Moguling site for the Searchmarketingllc.com and Dotventures.com.
I was also sent an email last night and there is a video that I am too watch, I am assuming before I talk with my assigned Domain Specialist.

Anyway, I am looking forward to learning more about moguling, and will write further posts about my moguling adventures.

Update:

Military Chaplain Documentary

Graphic from InHisServiceandYoursLizzie was recently contacted by a former client about a project she has undertaken. Lee Lawrence and Terry Nickleson are currently making a documentary about Military Chaplains serving in the military, both state side and over seas in the Iraq war. Terry and Lee have interviewed Chaplains serving in United States military locations, and now are traveling to Iraq to interview chaplains that are involved in the war.

Visitors to their site, InHisServiceandYours.com can view podcasts from Lee and Terry and also read the site blog. Updates will hopefully be made by both Lee and Terry on a regular basis.

PixelHeadonline has made In His Service and Yours the Three way reciprocal link site for the next few months to hopefully help them out with getting some one way links. We also have made our reciprocal link submissions in the directory free for the time being. So grab a link and help them out.

Links may be submitted via the submission page on the directory, by contacting us via our contact page, or by leaving a comment on this post. Please leave url, title, description and url of InHisService’s link on your site. Deep links are also accepted, however adult sites are not accepted in the directory.

UPDATE

Already have had many three way link submissions to start off the special. To prevent spam, only one reciprocal link per site will be accepted, and Deep links will not be accepted for these either. Please read the submission guidelines carefully.
