Just a little note. I am actually in Maine for a wedding but I needed to get this quick post out. The site had actually been down for well over 3 days due to some errors from the hosting company…will be changing hosts…They were unable to find out why the site was redirecting to a gambling site.
Numerous emails and phone calls later, I finally got a supervisor on the line today, and he promised me he would call me back when the site was up and running.

3 days is a long time.

I was quite irritated with the host, and we have actually already switched the site over to a new host, and will be switching all our other sites over as well.  This level of incompetence is just unacceptable.

Today, I got a text from a friend asking me if his site was down. I checked and low and behold it was redirecting to one of our medical directories.  Well actually it was redirecting to the blog of said directory which is inactive.

I am unsure of what other action will follow, but I am very greatful that all the sites are back and running and nothing was lost.

The previous post, Adding a Business to the Google Map, was written on Wednesday and was suppose to be published then. That is when I found out the site was down.

• A post on Local search and submitting your web site to Google maps inorder to target local markets.
• A Twitter post about using the new features and using new sites that utilize the Twitter api.
• A post about building a directory using the phpdirectory script…love the new version by the way.

Well I have been talking to Lizzie, and she says she will do a few posts. If there is anyone out there interested in doing some revenue sharing who would like to become party owner of this site, please drop a comment or contact me on any of the social networks I am on through out the day.

Previously there was just the lonely add for the PepperJam affiliate add network in the top sidebar. Our friend from OneMillionlovemessages.com asked me to place a banner to his new blogger forum on Pixelheadonline, so now a Blogcrash Blogger forum banner add is there too. I was on the forum today for a little while, and it seems like it could be a pretty good resource for bloggers. The user interface was pretty user friendly, and Mauro has the personality to really make it work.
I still need to do some posts about Pepperjam…they will be forth coming.

Next I thought why not encourage people to submit to our directory, so I added a little banner add to the Pixelheadonline directory which is a premium directory with tons of cached category pages.

I will be making the adds so that I can put four of them there, with two side by side. But I will have to tweak my banner ads a little bit.

Thanks to Kashif’s comment this morning, I was reminded about a difference in the Google search link cache results, and I then updated the post that Kashif commented on and wrote the new blog post Link Building Update: Checking For Google Cache, which starts a new link building discussion.

Definition:I don’t know if I have ever explained it, but a cached link is a page that Google has visited, and Google has taken a snap shot. After you do a Google search, you get results that looks something like this:

If you do a search with Google, you can click the “Cached” link to see the snap shot of the page as the page looked the last time Google visited it.

Pixelheadonline Cached Pages

Looking at the October 2,2007 link building post, I noticed that I had mentioned that there were 1,430 pages of Pixelheadonline.com in the SERPs(Search Engine Results Pages)when this post was written. Today I did a site:http://www.pixelheadonline.com search and it shows 1900 pages in the SERPs.

This is a 33% increase in the number of pages cached by Google since October.

Incidentally, I also did the above search with a trailing slash, and the results showed 2000 pages in the SERPs, but I wanted the results to compare to the October results which I did not use the trailing slash for at that time.

What do I attribute to this increase?

I have not been doing any link building for Pixelheadonline, so I am more prone to believe that there must have been a change in the algorithm which has caused the Google spiders to visit more pages of the site.

Also, the site is now getting a bit of age so perhaps that has something to do with the increase as well.
