Nicole Price (6) our top commentator has a post about the best companies to work for, I personally was intrigued by number 10. Check out Nicole’s post, and let me know which company would interest you?
Free Directories (5) which does not have a blog that I could see, does have a webmasters forum…which as you know, is a great place to not only get some great one way links, but it is a great place to get some knowledge about marketing your site.
Wayne (5) at this writing has Lesson 9 of his Blogger.com Help Series. This one tells you how to migrate your Blogger.com blog to a unique url. I may have to get Wayne’s help to do this with our travel blog.
I have been getting the daily Beachwalks.tv updates in my email for quite sometime now. The daily videos of Roxanne and her dog Lexi, come from the beaches of Hawaii. Roxanne has a different topic everyday which may include personal development subjects to less serious topics. She also gives you a little Hawaiian Language lesson with a Hawaiian word of the day. Today’s word of the day was Manawa kpono or opportunity.
Today, Roxanne talks about taking a life challenge as her partner Shane said when they were faced with a client rescheduling issue, “What’s the Opportunity Here ?”
I like the idea of finding gold in situations that if we allow ourselves to, could potentially make us a little sad, very depressed or worse.
For example, when the SEO Company Lizzie and I were working for, had to let us both go due to loss of clients, we could have, gotten really depressed(we did get a little bummed) because we then had to find new (sorry for the curse word in advance) jobs. But instead, we looked at it as the opportunity to fully go out on our own. Within a month, we were able to network our resources and were able to more than make up for the lost income and benefit security. Today, our own SEO Company, Baldydog.com, is a growing, thriving business.
How about you,
when did you have to find the gold nugget in a potentially bad situation?
In the past few months environment posts and beyond, the topic of plastic bags has come up on more than one occasion. Yesterday, a comment was left on the July Environmental Review Post by a representative of Nature-Tec, which is a green company that “offers biobased and fully biodegradable and compostable alternatives to traditional plastic products.”
The only thing that I have heard about biodegradable bags is that they are more expensive than traditional plastic bags. Checking out the Natur-Tec site, I was unable to get any info on the cost of said bags compared to traditional bags. Also, I was looking at the plastic bag pdf, and I see that the bags are “certified Biodegradable and compostable”, but I was still a little unsure about what that means. According to the Natur-tec FAQ pages(tsk tsk using pop ups) to be classified as biodegradable and compostable, the product needs to be able to degrade up to 90% in 180 days or less. Hmm, I wonder what these puppies would do to my garden?
I do have out several emails to Natur-tec, and will update the post or do another Natur-tec review post possibly if it is needed. (I received no compensation for this review)
Previously there was just the lonely add for the PepperJam affiliate add network in the top sidebar. Our friend from OneMillionlovemessages.com asked me to place a banner to his new blogger forum on Pixelheadonline, so now a Blogcrash Blogger forum banner add is there too. I was on the forum today for a little while, and it seems like it could be a pretty good resource for bloggers. The user interface was pretty user friendly, and Mauro has the personality to really make it work.
I still need to do some posts about Pepperjam…they will be forth coming.
Next I thought why not encourage people to submit to our directory, so I added a little banner add to the Pixelheadonline directory which is a premium directory with tons of cached category pages.
I will be making the adds so that I can put four of them there, with two side by side. But I will have to tweak my banner ads a little bit.
Last week, I did a Link Building Tip post, and I was asked by Wayne of WayneJohn.com, what my goals are for my videos. At that point in time I really did not have any goals. But Wayne got me thinking, and I decided I would start doing a weekly Link Building tip post with at least one little SEO/SEM related nugget in each video.
This weeks video tip goes over the use of “Stop Words”. Check the resources at the end of the post for a definition of Stop Words.
Pearl , whose avatar is to the left, just sent me an email letting me know a comment she made on my Link Building Tips post had gone into the Spam folder. On a daily basis, I get a couple hundred pages of spam submissions that Askimet filters out, but sometimes it might do too good of a filtering job. Occasionally I do check some of the spam submissions, but normally, I just delete without checking. Sorry Pearl and anyone else whose comment may have been trapped by Askimet.
As a way of making it up to Pearl, I thought I would let you know that Pearl has a post which is were I found out that Stumbleupon is removing the 200 friend limit. That is certainly good news for a lot of people. Prior to the change, you had to go through your friends and weed out the ones that were not active in the Stumbleupon community so that you could maximize your Stumbleupon experience. This being something that I rarely got to do. Sorry Peeps, and thanks for being on top of this Pearl.
If you are a Stumbleupon user, check out Pearls Stumbleupon Profile, and add her if you like her stumbles and stop by her blog and give it a read as well.
