Iron Man, Better Than Spiderman 3

Posted by Pixelhead

Yes, I said it, I really believe it was better than Spiderman 3. Maybe it was just because I saw it last night, and Spiderman 3 I saw well over 6 months ago, but my son and I both thought it was a great movie. I would not suggest taking a child younger than 8 though due to the comic book style violence and minor sexual content.

As a kid, I read numerous comic books, and Iron Man and Spiderman were two of the prime choices. I didn’t have a huge collection like some people though, so I could not really be called a comic book authority by any means. So I am not going to say that the movie was right in line with comic book, but it was very believable.

If you have the chance and action comic book style movies are your thing, I would suggest going to see it, because Iron Man is worth the ticket, and looks great up on the big screen.

If you have seen it, what did you think of Iron Man?

I have seen 3 blogs today and all 3 of them had positive Ironman reviews. I guess I have to see it myself.

It was a great film. It was a bit predictable but on the whole extremely well done. The way the iron man character develops from being a weapon designer to weapon destroyer is particularly good. The graphics too are incredible. This was much better than Spiderman 3 though I personally didn’t think too much of that movie.

I saw the movie last night, I agree that not only was it awesome but it was better than SP3. BTW if you watch the credits there is a little surprise at the very end. Can anyone say Ironman2? :-)

Frankly, I do not see a great deal to get excited about Iron Man. It is certainly entertaining in a juvenile kind of way, but I do not think that it rates all the hype around it. I would rate it about three stars out of five.

Actually I have not watched this film. But I read that this film began it’s run with advanced showings at 8 p.m. on Thursday night which grossed an impressive $3.5M in the four hour period before midnight when the official Friday launch started. I think this is an amazing start.

NHP, It might have been about the same as Batman. The true test will be watching them both a second time one after the other. A real comic book fest, would be to rent Spiderman3, Iron Man, and then The Dark Knight when it comes out.

Davin, I am sure it is going to bring a good amount, but I doubt it will break any records. 3.5 Million is pretty good for just the pre-launch.

NDS, I’m not sure about the torrent, but I thought it looked great in the theater.

I really enjoyed the movie as well. It definitely was better than 90% of the comic book films out there, but it just missed on a lot of levels too. It didn’t have the story depth that X-Men 2, Spider-Man 2, and Batman Begins had. That might be sorta tough though since those were all sequels and didn’t have to set the entire thing up.

The sequel is coming out in 2010, so I’ll definitely catch it.

I think that the Iron Man outfit is really cool looking. Just saw on the news this morning, a spoof about Jenna Bush’s wedding. It showed the family members all in their designer clothing, but the punch line was the picture of George Bush dressed in an Iron Man suit at the wedding, very funny. Also at the playground with my daughter this weekend, and a small boy, 7 or 8, was walking aroud singing Iron Man from Ozzy Osbourne.

I haven’t seen it yet, but really want to. For some reason Iron Man was one of my favorites as a kid reading comic books. Right up there with Batman and the Silver Surfer. Ironman was a lot of fun, but I do think part of that is the general feeling that most new movies are pure junk. Ironman was good, not great, but that is a lot better than can be said for any of the other movies I have seen recently.
