Adding Several Banner Ads

Previously there was just the lonely add for the PepperJam affiliate add network in the top sidebar. Our friend from OneMillionlovemessages.com asked me to place a banner to his new blogger forum on Pixelheadonline, so now a Blogcrash Blogger forum banner add is there too. BlogCrash - Blogs and Bloggers Forum I was on the forum today for a little while, and it seems like it could be a pretty good resource for bloggers. The user interface was pretty user friendly, and Mauro has the personality to really make it work.
I still need to do some posts about Pepperjam…they will be forth coming.

Next I thought why not encourage people to submit to our directory, so I added a little banner add to the Pixelheadonline directory which is a premium directory with tons of cached category pages.
submit your site to our directory

I will be making the adds so that I can put four of them there, with two side by side. But I will have to tweak my banner ads a little bit.

Got an ad you want to post really cheap?

Pixelheadonline SERPs Results

Thanks to Kashif’s comment this morning, I was reminded about a difference in the Google search link cache results, and I then updated the post that Kashif commented on and wrote the new blog post Link Building Update: Checking For Google Cache, which starts a new link building discussion.

Definition:I don’t know if I have ever explained it, but a cached link is a page that Google has visited, and Google has taken a snap shot. After you do a Google search, you get results that looks something like this: (more…)

Social Media SEO for Hire

Yesterday, I received news that my last day working for the local search marketing company I had been working for was Emperor having Coffeeyesterday. Benefits(health insurance) would end at the end of the month which happens to be Friday. This does not come as a shock, since Lizzie and I both had worked for the same company for several years, and downsizing has been occurring over the past year.

So if you need any SEO/Social media work to include consulting, link building, or general site evaluations, please keep me in mind.
My Plan of Action

  1. Get the word out to various contacts which could offer assistance.
  2. Update resume and post on various sites.
  3. Visit various job sites to include careerbuilder.com, montster.com, and Oaseo.com an SEO job community.
  4. Visit various job boards such as the Problogger job board.
  5. Keep working on existing freelance clients.
  6. Contact previous clients.
  7. Back-sell other services to current clients.
  8. Keep on networking.
  9. Cut back extraneous expenses.
  10. Prioritize my efforts.

What would you do in my situation? How would you generate leads? Any advice would be appreciated.

Update: A project that was in the pipeline came through today. We are actually ahead of the game.

Factoring  in lost income, tax advantages of paying our own health insurance, income from the new contract, expenses of the new contract, increase availability of time due to having less clients; we are way ahead of where we were yesterday.

LinkLove Pluggin

Just a quick post, since I am on vacation in New Orleans and not planning on spending the entire vacation online.

Sonnie’s Porch wrote a post about the LinkLove pluggin and talked about the difference between the Linklove pluggin and the DoFollow Pluggin and has convinced me to use the Linklove pluggin on this blog. First, the Linklove pluggin will encourage more quality comments. First time commentators, will have a No Follow attribute attached to their comments, and will have to make a minimum number of quality comments to have the No Follow attribute removed from their comments. Second, Sonnie put it forth that Google may be penalizing Blogs that use the DoFollow pluggin because they are giving away too many links. Sounds possible.

My Concern about the LinkLove Pluggin.

When installed will commentators that have met the minimum requirements already, benefit from it or will it only take into account comments that are made after it is installed?

Anyone have any opinions about the LinkLove Pluggin?

Oh sorry about the Captcha, please make sure to fill it out, before hitting the submit button. I will be moving it after vacation.

Commenting Update

As David Hopkins suggested in the Freakin Spam post comment, I have added the CaptCha plugin that uses actual text images from vintage books to make sure commentators are humans Captcha imageand not bots. By using this plugin you can help to digitize some old books. Sounds pretty cool to me, but as long as it reduces the Spam that has plagued me recently I will be more than a happy camper. I believe I first heard about the pluggin from Steli of SuperCoolSchool, but I could be mistaken.

I also am not sure if it will do anything to the page load times or anything, but I will monitor it and uninstall if I find it slows load times down tremendously.

I also just activated the DoFollow Pluggin, that I had installed a while ago, and forgot to activate…oops…I had gone into the template and changed the “No Follow” to “Follow”, but had not done it so that links left in the actual comments would be “Do Follow”. Links in the comment name url link box were Do Follow, but links left in the actual comment were “No Follow”. So activating the Do Follow plugin has enabled links in the comments to not have the “No Follow” tag. Thanks again to Clive for letting me know about the “No Follow” in the comments.
I will be monitoring links within the comments and will only allow relevant links.

Update 11/8/2007: I have deactivated the re-Captcha due to complaints. However, if the spam starts up again, I will reactivate.

Several recommendations I would like to be made while using it the Recaptcha Pluggin include:

Late Abuse Post

This is my late Blogging against abuse post which was a blogging event that was held by BlogCatalog.com. Yesterday 1000+ bloggers from around the globe were blogging about various facets of abuse. As Jon from SWR said in his post Blogging Against Abuseyesterday, that is why it was such a great event because it was able to be tailored to each blog so that the blog was able to stay on topic.

One of my Blogging against abuse posts was about Animal/pet abuse. Check the first link on this post or click on the image to the left to see a lot of great abuse posts from participating blogs.
Abuse topics included but were not limited to Child abuse, domestic abuse, pet/animal abuse, and political abuse.
This blog, still does not have a well specified topic. Although I do tend to have more posts about marketing to be specific SEO, than other topics. I guess that could be considered a cornerstone post.

What I really want to blog about is the abuse of time. I and lots of other people seem to abuse the time we have on this Earth. It is only so long, because as we all know, we are not eternal. Hopefully my words will be around forever, but I am doubtful if I will write anything so profound that it will be around for the ages. So in order to stop wasting or abusing time, I am going to put this blog on to a blogging schedule. I will have a specified type of post to do on each day of the week. Sundays no posting will be done unless I decide to do one for fun.

Pixelheadonline Blogging Schedule

This is what I have so far. Got any idea or suggestions?
